Sylvia Mac was just 2 years old when she suffered third-degree burns across her back, legs, and stomach. Facing depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder, Sylvia spent over 45 years hiding her scars, feeling ashamed of her body. At the age of 48, Sylvia decided to embrace her body and bared her scars for the world to see whilst on holiday abroad. Through her passion for raising awareness and support of others living with disfigurements, Sylvia founded Love Disfigure in 2016 – a nationwide campaign raising vital awareness of visible, hidden, and invisible disabilities. Recipient of the ‘Beautiful Survivor of the World Award’ and ‘Wellness Warrior Award’ Sylvia set up Love Disfigure Talent Agency, opening pathways to people with differences and disabilities finding them work as Models, Actors and Speakers, creating meaningful change in the fashion, media and speaker industries.
