Alex Storer

SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR GENDER –

Since obtaining his MA in Human Rights and International Relations in 2009, Alex Storer has travelled to the Middle East, North Africa and Europe working on projects designed to promote democracy and protect minorities. He moved to the UK in 2012 where he started working at Mind, the mental health charity, managing their equality improvement projects to make sure Mind services in England and Wales were truly accessible and inclusive. In 2017 he moved to the Law Society to join their Diversity & Inclusion team where he leads on their Gender Equality initiative, the first male adviser to do so. Of course, for a long time “gender equality” has been synonym with “women’s rights” and men have by and large stayed away from it, feeling it wasn’t their place to talk about gender equality. Alex believes men have a crucial role to play in achieving gender equality and he is certainly leading the way!
