Birmingham Youth Sports Academy (BYSA)

SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR AGE –

The Birmingham Youth Sports Academy (BYSA) was established in 2002 as a voluntary/charity organisation in order to offer football coaching to young people to stay active and focused. The organisation mentors young people to achieve their targets and goals in life, whether it’s in sports, education or employment. What started at Small Heath Park with only a few kids from the local area has expanded to the Small Heath Leisure Centre with over 150 kids attending every week. The BYSA was awarded FA Chartered Standard Club Mark for its professionalism within grass roots football as well as a British Empire Medal (BEM) for community sports. Along with the Lord Mayors Award 2017 for their girls project and the Pride of Britain Award 2018 for putting the ‘Great’ back into Great Britain (Birmingham). This inspiring, diverse team is transforming the lives of young people in the West Midlands.
