Caribbean Social Forum

2017 WINNER:

COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR RACE, RELIGION & FAITH –

The elderly in the UK are under-served, lonely and somewhat isolated – Caribbean OAP’s even more so. With the passion of its founder Pamela Franklin, this incredible organisation aims to help. The main focus of the Forum is to energise and engage people who are ‘about to become’ or are retired. The Forum provides them with a meeting place to engage and participate in social activities. It offers a programme of education, leading healthier life style workshops, awareness raising of local services, a hub to assist families dealing with dementia, a friendship service and much more. Overall, the Forum brings people together to share their joy, laughter, fears, culture and experiences. Since the Forum started in 2015, their membership has grown to over 400 with a regular attendance of 60+ members to the weekly Thursday meeting. An imperative service in the heart of south-east London.
