James Middlehurst

SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR AGE –

Born disabled with lower limb deformities including Club Foot, PFFD and Fibular Hemimelia, James has been in and out of hospital all his life having his left foot amputated before his first birthday. His determination to achieve has certainly inspired his schoolmates… but more surprisingly adult amputees. At the Invictus Games James impressed British Army Afghan war veterans with his lust for life, causing many to reflect that being an adult amputee was not a problem; watching him face his disability with such positivity. James is the youngest ever junior amputee footballer in England’s Junior Amputee squad and has already won Silver competing in British Disability Fencing. This incredible young role model is now tipped to represent Great Britain at the Los Angeles 2018 Paralympics, leading many of his school mates to express the extraordinary wish that they had just one leg!
