June Sarpong MBE

SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

CELEBRITY OF THE YEAR –

June has enjoyed a 20-year career which has seen her become one of the most recognisable faces of British television. June is the Co-founder of the WIE Network (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise) and the DNA Summit (Decide Act Now), which brings together the most innovative minds to generate ideas and initiatives that will effect lasting social change. Last year June authored ‘Diversify: Six Degrees of Integration’, an empowering polemic which argues the case for social, moral and economic benefits of diversity. Working with Oxford University June considers how we create and use stereotypes and how they negatively impact our social interactions both overtly and covertly. Diversify encourages readers to calculate their levels of discriminative views. June is one the youngest people to have ever received an MBE, which she received in 2007 for services to broadcasting and to charity.
