Though a chartered accountant with a 15-year career spanning assurance, banking and consulting, Nilesh’s passion lies in people. Nilesh aspires to facilitate social mobility and level the playing field for young people, winning multiple awards for his foundational work in the community. In 2016, Nilesh created icanyoucantoo – a grassroots mentoring programme aimed at youngsters from deprived backgrounds. icanyoucantoo consists of practical coaching for youth but also Education & Awareness workshops around The City. To date, Nilesh has worked with over 2,000 children, parents and professionals. The scheme is rooted in his own lived experiences, having grown up to migrant parents in non-privileged circumstances. A former mentee, who recently received an apprenticeship at EY, stated “Nilesh has changed mine and my friends’ lives”. Diagnosed with a neurodegenerative condition, Nilesh now works part-time at EY, balancing his career but still pursuing his passion of giving back to the community.
