SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR LGBT –

Proud2Be supports LGBTQIA+ people in South Devon and beyond, to lead empowered, fulfilled and authentic lives. Inspired by their own experiences of bullying, discrimination and shame- gay, non-binary twins Jon & Mat Price set up Proud2Be in 2011 when they recorded the first Proud2Be video. Since then several public figures have contributed to the campaign, including Stephen Fry. Proud2Be facilitates a youth project, volunteer programme and various groups and events throughout the year, including a social group, craft days and Totnes Pride. They also deliver awareness training to organisations around the UK. Proud2Be is one of 12 organisations in the National Anti-homophobic, biphobic and/or transphobic Bullying Alliance, an innovative schools project led by LGBT Consortium and funded by the Government Equalities Office. Following a successful trial, Proud2Be are currently campaigning to install Europe’s first permanent rainbow crossing in Totnes.
