POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR AGE –
Chief Inspector Ricky Kandohla joined the Metropolitan Police in 1996. This career was far from the norm for a traditional Sikh man and Ricky saw the value of his diverse difference and the difference he could make to his own community and others. He piloted unprecedented diversity & inclusion schemes that bridged the gap between the police and community, a relationship that was unstable and fragile historically. His work to improve relations was career defining and Ricky has continuously shown outstanding commitment to strive for positive outcomes and build trust with communities. There are approx. 32,000 Police officers working within London, of which 11% are BME officers, and breaking down that percentage by rank only 2% are above the rank of Inspector. Ricky is a beacon of light and hope for others from outside and inside the service, and is often described by his peers as ‘inspirational leader’.
SHARING IS CARING!
