COMMUNITY ORGANISATION AWARD FOR RACE, RELIGION & FAITH –
Unlocking creative talent through access to opportunities, both cultural and social, is the guiding principle of this vital organisation’s work. What they offer is so much more than simply access to the arts. They offer residents from all walks of life, a chance to live the life they choose in a borough with one of the highest unemployment (8.6%) and child poverty rates (41% 2014; New Policy Institute) in London. Since 1993 Rosetta Arts have supported East London’s poorest and most disenfranchised communities to take the first steps towards reaching their full potential, offering opportunities where they are scarce and opening up creative careers to communities that don’t usually do them. Over the last 3 years they have introduced over 155,000 people to visual art through their exhibitions and audience engagement programmes, with 200 unemployed people accessing their enterprise and employment programmes annually.
