Sally Kingdon

SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR AGE –

Sally was the Devon Diverse Communities Team Sergeant with Devon & Cornwall police for 5 years. She worked tirelessly to build trust and sustainable relationships, instigating several projects to promote equality, fairness and respect for all. Sally set up The Zero Tolerance to Hate Crime campaign following the Brexit vote, launching an online pledge to promote equality legislation and increase the understanding and awareness of hate crime. To date over 200 organisations across the south west have signed up enabling them to prominently display marketing materials to promote the campaign. Originally aimed at the Exeter area, the scheme has rolled out across Devon and Cornwall and is now attracting national involvement. With Sally at its helm, this campaign is a positive means to unite individuals and communities in the hope that a more inclusive culture will prevail, ensuring everyone is able to feel safe.
