Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (SWBH) is an integrated care organisation. They are dedicated to improving the lives of local people, to maintaining an outstanding reputation for teaching and education, and to embedding innovation and research. They employ around 7,000 people and are responsible for the care of 530,000 local people from across North-West Birmingham and the towns within Sandwell. Their People Plan has a key focus on inclusion and diversity and centers around delivering a series of ambitious targets to increase the diversity of their workforce and knowledge and understanding of equality issues, by 2020. It is evident that the culture of SWBH has been directly changed by their impressive equality and diversity work, and their ongoing commitment to this agenda has led to recognition from the 2017 ENEI Awards where they won the ‘Inclusive Culture Award’ and the Sandwell & West Birmingham CCG ‘Partnership Award’
