DC O’Hara joined Merseyside Police in 1996. She has extensive investigative experience in criminal investigations and is the force Hate Lead plus the Force’s sex worker liaison officer. Since 2001, Tracy has been Chair of Merseyside Police LGBT Network and the Co-Chair of the national group since 2015. In 2009, she won International Police Officer of the year awarded by the International Association of Policewomen (IAWP) Tracy has devoted her Police Service to fight for the rights of LGBT people and has improved the relationship between the Police and the LGBT community. This is above and beyond her role in the police, she has become a strong and recognisable voice for LGBT rights in Merseyside, across the country and internationally. In 2017, Tracy was awarded the Queens Police Medal (QPM) for distinguished services to LGBT matters within the Police service.
