Wendy Pearce

SHORTLISTED NOMINEE:

LIFETIME ACHIEVER –

Wendy has been a youth and community worker for 50 years, supporting young people and their families across Blackpool. At the amazing age of 73 she has no cause to stop! Wendy has supported over 5000 young people and families through her work with Blackpool Council and the VCFS sector. Wendy has also managed many projects including Blackpool Boys and Girls Club and Grange Park youth club, as well as writing a babysitting course that allows young people to learn about children’s development, safeguarding and first aid. This exceptional role model has mentored many students and developed a girls group to support the need for young women to become more independent and challenge stereotypes. Wendy’s ability to work with those who are often forgotten disadvantaged members of our society is astonishing. When other services have given up, Wendy has been a beacon of hope.
