Scottish Water is a public sector essential utility provider in Scotland delivering 1.44 billion litres of clear, fresh drinking water and taking away 983 million litres of wastewater, which is treated before being returned safely to the environment. This essential service is provided to 2.56 million households and 153,000 business premises by 4,000+ dedicated employees. Scottish Water prides itself on being trusted to serve the communities of Scotland and is on a mission to support a flouring Scotland. Diversity & Inclusion are mainstreamed into everything Scottish Water does, routinely going above and beyond the regulatory requirements to create opportunities to advance equality. Creating a working environment where everyone has a sense of belonging is central to the Scottish Water Diversity & Inclusion Strategy. Pivotal to the implementation of this strategy is the Belong Network - a network of nine employee led and run inclusion groups each supported by senior leadership sponsors. The Belong groups create supportive and welcoming communities that celebrate similarities, individuality, and character. They play an important part in furthering awareness and education throughout the business and advocate for positive change. Recent examples of their impact include: the presence of the LGBT & Allies Belong Group at national Pride events, the contributions of the Disability Forum in improving organisational workplace adjustments and, the work of the Carers Network in supporting Scottish Water to achieve exemplary status from Carers Positive.
