Steph Robson

Nominee Profile
Location: Sunderland
Steph is a multidisciplinary creative practitioner whose work centres on the lived experience of her rare form of primordial Dwarfism, Russell Silver Syndrome.
Since beginning her blog, HelloLittleLady.com, in 2008, she has raised awareness about discrimination, ignorance, and often surreal moments as a 4ft 4" woman in the U.K.
Her creative practice has evolved over the years to include the wider Dwarfism community, including her 'You're Just Little' exhibition, which revealed the challenges, obstacles, and societal assumptions people with Dwarfism face on a daily basis. Participants sent photos from the U.K., USA, and Australia, showcasing the perspectives rarely seen on a gallery wall.
Her participatory practice has seen Steph create podcasting workshops for the Dwarfism community. 'What's Your Story' (funded by Sunderland Culture's Creative Development Fellowship) at ChapelFM in Leeds, and WayFinders - a six-week online workshop for women with Dwarfism during the pandemic (funded by UNION Arts). More recently, Steph created a series of concept photos around the lived experience of Dwarfism with the performance artist, Alice Lambert, as part of her Develop Your Creative Practice grant, funded by Arts Council England.
Steph has worked for the BBC at Radio 2 and 6 Music as part of the Extend scheme and also appeared on Will Perry's Dwarfism Discrimination film on the BBC One Show.
Steph's commissions include Durham Book Festival and various articles and podcasts on Disability Arts Online and chapter contributor in the publication Dwarfism Arts and Advocacy Creating Our Own Positive Identity by Dr Erin Pritchard.
Steph is also the founder of Dwarf Voices. She seeks to establish a creative arts organisation that centres the community's lived experience through the arts, empowering the community to tell their stories.
