50:50 Parliament is a friendly network helping women progress in politics at a local and national level with their #AskHerToStand and #SignUpToStand programmes. Their vision is a democracy which draws upon our diversity, one in which men and women run the country and build the future together. Currently, there are two times more men than women on most elected bodies throughout the UK. Women are the majority in life but a minority in Parliament. As a charity 50:50 inspires and supports all kinds of women to take the next step into politics. In the 2019 General Election, 50 of the women who stood were part of 50:50's #SignUpToStand programme, 20% of them were from diverse backgrounds. Nine went on to become MPs. In the recent local elections, many 50:50 women won seats on their local councils. Over 2500 women have now come to #SignUpToStand.
