Cheryl was born in Australia and attended the Universities of Bristol (BA Hons) and Birmingham (MA). She worked at the BBC in London for several years before setting up a theatre company producing and developing women's plays. The founder and managing editor of inclusive publishing company Aurora Metro Books and Supernova Books, Cheryl has published a diverse list of over 300 writers and won numerous awards over 30 years. In addition to publishing, Cheryl has produced exhibitions, conferences and documentary films. Since 2017, she has been campaigning for the first life-size statue of Virginia Woolf in the UK and has raised the £50000 target from over 250 individual donors. The statue has received planning permission and will be located in Richmond-upon-Thames where Virginia Woolf lived for 10 years. Two public consultations were carried out which were 83% and 91% in favour of the project.
