2022 Shortlisted Nominee

Celebrity of the Year Award

Liz Carr is a wheelchair using actor and activist perhaps best known for playing Clarissa Mullery for 8 years in the longstanding BBC forensic drama, Silent Witness. She has appeared in Netflix’s The OA and The Witcher, as well as the Paramount film, Infinite and her angelic character will make its debut in Good Omens, series 2. In 2021, Liz was the first disabled woman to play the role of Dr Emma Brookner in The Normal Heart. The character is based on the real life doctor, Linda Laubenstein but in it’s 35 years, no actual disabled actor had ever played this role professionally. Performed on the Olivier stage at The National Theatre, the role resulted in an Olivier award for Best Supporting Actor earlier this year. A passionate activist for Disability and queer rights and an opponent of the legalising of assisted suicide, Liz developed and performed in Assisted Suicide The Musical.
