2022 Shortlisted Nominee

Positive Role Model Award: Age

Before Max’s friend Rick died, he gave him a tent and told Max to have an adventure in it. Delivering on his promise, in March 2020 at just 10 years old Max decided to camp out to raise money for the North Devon Hospice that took such great care of Rick before he passed away. Max has now been camping out for over two years and has raised over £700,000 for charities whose funding has been cut. He has survived a record-breaking storm, endured icy mornings and battled a bout of Covid during a heatwave. Max has done 2 Big Camp Outs where children from all around the country joined him for the night and raised money for their chosen charities. His aim is to show the world that children really can make a difference. In May this year, Max was awarded a BEM in the New Year’s Honours List for his outstanding charity work.
