Community Organisation Award: Disability
Owl Blue works with families of children with hidden disabilities and those who share their lives. They facilitate educational information, advice and strategies by qualified professionals to encourage understanding and self-help, which is tailored to the problems arising from their condition. Owl Blue facilitates qualified professionals to educate and advise those in the community that wish to understand individuals effected by hidden disabilities such as Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and co-occurring conditions such as mental health. Owl Blue is relieving the pressure off the public sector which is underfunded, and lacking staff, expertise and services in Cumbria. This is benefiting service users and professionals alike and provides an essential intervention that otherwise would not be available. On a personal level, families are gaining an understanding of their children and siblings.
