Community Organisation Award: LGBT
Rainbow Toffees is the official LGBTQ+ Supporters Group of Everton Football Club. Their key aim is to eradicate homophobia out of football and make it easier for any footballer who is LGBTQ to come out. On top of spreading news about what is going on at Everton FC, they highlight LGBT issues throughout the world of football and in sports. They do this to shine a light on what needs to be done at their own football club and hold them accountable for their actions. Rainbow Toffees have worked with Everton on a number of events and activities, promoting inclusivity and the Club’s excellent All Together Now equality and diversity campaign, as well as national awareness campaigns and dates. They also have a football team that regularly plays charity games, and have raised £1000 for Zoe’s Place, a children’s hospice. 9 years on from its inception, the group is going strong and has grown to around 500 members.
