Community Organisation Award: Disability
SEND Socials Birmingham CIC are a non profit organisation providing social opportunities, activities and events for children with additional needs and disabilities. They provide parents and carers with support via their parent/carer coffee mornings and through their Facebook group, which allows parents to seek advice, support, share experiences and signpost services. SEND Socials Birmingham is now supporting in excess of 1500 families and has provided 10,000+ spaces on their activities and events since May 2021. They have launched a monthly youth group to allow teenagers to mix, meet others and form friendships and a weekly group for children who are out of school due to there being no suitable placement. In addition, this amazing organisation has liaised with businesses to be more accessible for their families, with some launching their own sessions for children with additional needs.
