2022 Shortlisted Nominee

Positive Role Model Award: Gender

Following the loss of 2 friends to suicide, Stu Bratt decided to turn his pain into passion and founded Tough Enough to Care in 2020 to raise awareness of male mental health and help remove the stigma of 'man up' culture in male-dominated environments. An Armed Forces veteran, Stu’s remarkable journey has seen him successfully run weekly support sessions, organise a peer-to-peer support hub online, provide a one stop shop for mental health support, and launch a 24 hour messaging service where they offer support, advice, and signpost other charities, groups, and professionals. Starting his journey with no prior mental health training, Stu has thrown himself headfirst into supporting others with his efforts being recognised with several local and national awards including a National Veterans Award for their help and support towards armed forces communities, and a Community Hero Award.
