Community Organisation Award: Age
The Grand was set up in 2001 as a multi-partner agency working across the borough. Since then they have established a successful youth service, helped hundreds of people get online and learn how to use the internet, assisted people in their search for a new job, and helped people lose weight and quit smoking. The Centre works with every secondary school in the borough, manages community events, runs a community allotment, and has produced an annual youth performance at Woodville theatre for the past 10 years. This incredible organisation has worked with 109,445 people over 20 years, with 5626 engaging in their adult services and 103,819 engaging in their youth services. Core to their amazing work is the Gifted Young Generation (GYG) service which offers free opportunities to young people in the area through creative workshops, mental health counselling, and job-search support.
