Positive Role Model Award: LGBT
Charlotte Galloway is Chairperson at Cardiff Dragons FC – Wales’ first LGBTQ+ club. From being an EDI champion for her workplace, to providing advice to a women’s football league in Bristol, Charlotte is unafraid to speak up for what she believes is right, using her voice to stand up for those who are less visible. After identifying that LGBTQ+ sports clubs across Wales were isolated, Charlotte set up the LGBTQ+ Sports Network Wales allowing a multitude of clubs to come together presenting a united front to discrimination and sharing the joy of LGBTQ+ lived experiences. A huge advocate of LGBTQ+ rights, Charlotte actively took part in the ‘We Belong’ campaign raising awareness for the LGBTQ+ community and funds for the Alwan Foundation. In February 2023, Charlotte was awarded the Football Hero Award in the Football vs Homophobia awards, paying testament to her continued dedication for LGBTQ+ equality.
