Community Organisation Award: LGBT
Pride & Progress is a podcast, platform, and community group founded by educators Dr Adam Brett and Jo Brassington. They aim is to amplify the voices of LGBT+ educators, to offer support and community, and to explore ways to reimagine our educational spaces as more LGBT+ inclusive. They began by sharing stories of LGBT+ people and allies who were all in their own way reimagining educational spaces, and have since expanded their support to include regular LGBT+ educator network meetings, support for Early Career Teachers, and an LGBT+ educators book club. Furthermore, they were approached to create a book which brings together all of the lessons from their podcast series. Their book 'Pride & Progress: Making Schools LGBT+ Inclusive' was published in Pride month 2023. Pride & Progress have helped hundreds of podcast listeners to feel connected and inspired to bring about real change in education.
