The Sensory Place is a parent led charity offering a network of support to families of children with all disabilities aged 0-18 years. They are all parents of a child or children with a disability and felt that there were just not enough places to go or things to do when you have a child who has additional needs as mainstream activities are not accessible. They also experienced judgement and isolation but knew they weren't alone; thus, The Sensory Place was born in 2019 with a view to changing this for the better. This incredible charity offers courses based on the needs of their families, sensory friendly and accessible events, practical support for parents/carers, as well as partnering with a variety of organisations and services to make mainstream events accessible to all. The Sensory Place have organised and delivered activities to over 1000 people across Sunderland and County Durham.
