Hilda’s journey into law began when she moved from Ghana to the UK in 2016, determined to succeed in a field where few looked like her. In 2024, she became the first lawyer in her family. Now a Mental Health Law Solicitor, award-winning mentor, and founder of The BAME Woman in Law, she supports Black, Asian, and minority ethnic women to thrive in the legal profession. Driven by lived experience, she has mentored over 100 aspiring lawyers through workshops, networking, and 1:1 support. In 2025, she won Mentor of the Year at the Women & Diversity in Law Awards. Hilda also sits on the Steering Committee for Lawyers Against Poverty’s Refugee Rights Group and is a contributing author to Beyond Bias: Unleashing the Potential of Women in Law, writing about practical ways to improve racial equity in law.
