Positive Role Model Award: Age

Kyrelle is a 13-year-old award-winning child actor who also lives with homozygous sickle cell anaemia, type SS, a painful blood disorder mainly affecting Afro-Caribbean people. He faces frequent hospital visits, blood transfusions, and severe pain crises. Despite these challenges, Kyrelle shines on stage and in life, inspiring others through his strength. In 2023, he won Best Male Supporting Actor in a Musical and Disability Champion at the Black British Theatre Awards for his role as Gabriel in Nativity! The Musical at The Birmingham Rep. At school, he received an Exceptional Character award for his resilience after returning from a serious sickle cell crisis. Alongside his brother Tyrae, who also has sickle cell, Kyrelle uses social media to raise awareness and encourage blood donation. Their story inspires many to donate blood and supports others living with this often invisible illness.
