Community Organisation Award: Gender
Migrant Women Press is a nonprofit, migrant women-led media platform amplifying the voices of migrant and racialised women through original journalism. Founded in 2020, it challenges mainstream misrepresentation by centring lived experiences of first- and second-generation migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, international students, and diaspora women. With 200+ articles by 80+ writers from 30 countries, it offers publication opportunities, training, and a strong sense of community. Key initiatives include the 16 Days Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence, featuring trauma-informed training and collaborations with leading women’s organisations. Now evolving from a volunteer-led effort to a Community Interest Company (CIC), Migrant Women Press continues reshaping narratives in the UK’s predominantly white, male-dominated media landscape. Rooted in intersectionality, it creates space for migrant women to lead the conversation—with dignity, power, and visibility.
