Positive Role Model Award: Disability

Nick Wilson, known as The Disabled Adventurer, is a content creator, speaker and accessibility consultant. After 14 years in the British Army, a spinal injury ended his service – but began a new mission: opening up the outdoors to everyone. Now a full-time wheelchair user, Nick creates immersive, unscripted videos that show what accessibility really looks like. His honest, constructive content has reached millions, offering reassurance to disabled visitors and helping venues improve. Trusted by organisations including the National Trust, his work is known for its warmth, wit and integrity. Nick also mentors emerging disabled creators and works closely with venues to improve physical access, customer experience and staff confidence. His recent film, Project RockClimber, documents his solo ascent of Mount Snowdon in an all-terrain powerchair – a story of possibility, engineering and lived experience that reflects his drive to create a more inclusive world.
