Community Organisation Award: Race, Religion & Faith
The Nubian Jak Community Trust (NJCT), founded in 2006, is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to celebrating and preserving the contributions of African, Caribbean, and global majority communities to British society. Rooted in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), NJCT runs Europe’s only commemorative plaque and sculpture programme exclusively for Black and minority ethnic heritage, having installed over 120 plaques and three public monuments, including the African & Caribbean War Memorial and the Windrush & NHS Nurses statue. NJCT pioneered RAF Commemoration Day and delivers impactful education programmes, workshops, and the award-winning Nubian Jak board game to inspire youth and foster cultural pride. Through public art, community engagement, and historic commemoration, NJCT challenges systemic exclusion, promotes intergenerational healing, and redefines inclusion in the UK’s national narrative, ensuring historically overlooked communities are honoured, visible, and empowered.
