2025 Shortlisted Nominee
Positive Role Model Award: Disability
Scott is a dedicated rugby league coach who has championed disability sport despite his own challenges. Diagnosed with autism at age 40 and living with monocular vision after losing sight in his right eye 11 years ago, Scott has not let these obstacles hold him back. He has successfully established both physical disability and learning disability rugby league programmes across an entire borough, coaching at major clubs including Leigh Leopards and Wigan Warriors. He coached in the first-ever Learning Disability Super League game (Wigan v St Helens) and served as Scotland’s Physical Disability Head Coach (2021-2025). Scott’s passion lies in creating inclusive sporting opportunities for children and adults, inspiring others through his resilience and commitment to wellbeing and participation in rugby league. His work continues to break down barriers and change perceptions around disability in sport.
