Community Organisation Award: Gender

WomenZone, founded in 2003, is a Bradford-based grassroots organisation supporting women and families, particularly from South Asian and racially minoritised communities. Operating in one of the UK’s most deprived areas, WomenZone delivers holistic, culturally sensitive services spanning mental health, fitness, digital skills, and intergenerational wellbeing. The centre welcomes over 3,000 women annually, creating a safe, inclusive space that fosters confidence, community, and resilience. Notable projects include Loving Grannies’ Music and the Bradford Aunties documentary. In recent years, WomenZone has trained 73 volunteers, empowered 698 older women, and achieved 95% self-reported improvements in well-being. Their award-winning model promotes physical and emotional health, combats isolation, and strengthens community bonds. Through dynamic programmes and strategic partnerships, WomenZone is redefining grassroots impact, supporting marginalised women to thrive, contribute, and find their voice in society, with a legacy of empowerment built over two transformative decades.
