Arthur Torrington is one of Britain’s most influential heritage figures, dedicating 58 years to elevating African and Caribbean histories. Born in Guyana, he settled in England in the 1960s, becoming youth leader, pioneering broadcaster, and journalist, founding the Black Gospel Association and African Heritage Forum. He and Sam King MBE co-founded Windrush Foundation, and ensured that the terms ‘Windrush Generation’ and ‘Windrush Day’ are included in British history. Awarded an OBE and later CBE, Arthur continues to champion education, cultural identity and DEIB. He cares deeply about the dignity and wellbeing of others, using education and heritage to foster empathy and a more inclusive society for all.
