AWARE NI is Northern Ireland’s dedicated depression charity, established in 1996 to support people living with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Now operating region‑wide across Northern Ireland, AWARE delivers 24 free peer‑led support groups, alongside evidence‑based wellbeing programmes such as Mood Matters, Living Life to the Full, Mental Health First Aid, and Mindfulness in schools, workplaces, and communities. With over 80 trained volunteers and a prevention‑focused approach, AWARE NI provides accessible, zero‑waiting‑list support, deeply rooted in lived experience. Celebrating 30 years of impact in 2026, the charity focuses on wellbeing, mental health policy and lobbying at government level, and was honoured with the 2024 GSK IMPACT Award for outstanding mental health services.
