Dr. David Reid is a transformational SEND leader whose three‑decade plus career has reshaped opportunities for children and young adults with special educational needs and disability. As Chief Executive of The Birtenshaw Group, he has grown the organisation from a small local service into a £30m multi‑site provider supporting over 300 individuals each year through special education, specialist children’s homes, supported tenancies and therapeutic services. A champion of the social model of disability, David has influenced national policy, expanded inclusive pathways into adulthood, and created innovative services that remove barriers and build independence. His lifelong commitment to equality, empowerment and community impact makes him a highly deserving Lifetime Achiever.
