Lucy Kate Barnes is a barrister at East Anglian Chambers and Co‑Founder of Lawyers Who Care, the world’s only charity dedicated to supporting care‑experienced aspiring lawyers. Entering foster care at 13 and falling off the ‘Care Cliff’ at 16, Lucy overcame significant adversity to become the first in her family to achieve GCSEs and attend university. Since launching Lawyers Who Care in 2024, she has supported over 126 care‑experienced aspiring lawyers through two‑year mentoring programmes and hundreds more through tailored career support. A national voice on social mobility and trauma‑informed practice, Lucy sits on the Bar Council’s Young Barristers’ Committee and speaks across Parliament, law, education and social care.
