Community Organisation Award: Race, Religion & Faith
Newham Nurture (NCT) is a community‑led perinatal initiative co‑created with migrant women to reduce inequalities experienced by Black, Asian, refugee, asylum‑seeking and marginalised families in Newham, East London. Delivered in partnership with Alternatives Trust and The Magpie Project, it provides culturally tailored antenatal and postnatal education, Baby & Me groups, infant feeding support, trauma‑informed counselling, peer support and welfare guidance. Since 2021, Newham Nurture has supported more than 2,000 women and babies, improving confidence, wellbeing and access to services. Recognised twice with the City of Sanctuary Maternity Award and featured in NHS England’s Improving Postnatal Care Toolkit, the programme exemplifies co‑designed, equitable care.
