Community Organisation Award: Gender
Project Salama is a UK‑based safeguarding charity supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, honour‑based abuse, coercive control and related social challenges. Rooted in trauma‑informed, survivor‑centred practice, the organisation provides free, confidential support including emotional guidance, advocacy, safety planning, housing and legal assistance, court support and counselling referrals. Its culturally sensitive services are accessible in more than 16 languages, ensuring survivors from diverse backgrounds feel understood and safe. Through initiatives such as Chai & Chat, peer support, awareness workshops and confidence‑building activities, Project Salama reduces isolation and promotes healing. Since its inception, it has supported over 2,500 people across Berkshire and surrounding areas, empowering survivors to rebuild confidence, independence and hope.
