Positive Role Model Award: LGBT
Sarah Cosgriff is a science communicator and LGBTQ+ advocate. They previously worked on equity in science initiatives at the Institute of Physics and the Association for Science Education, and LGBTQ+ inclusion in education at Schools OUT, the founders of UK LGBT+ History Month. To improve visibility of queer scientists, Sarah has created nationally used school resources, delivered training to help teachers diversify their curricula and co-created the innovative programme, ‘STEM for Queer Youth’, which directly engages LGBTQ+ youth with science. As asexuality is a lesser known and understood sexual orientation, Sarah does asexual advocacy work in workplaces, education and healthcare, and co-founded the international network, Aces in STEM.
