Community Organisation Award: Disability
SEND Coffee CIC is a London-based social enterprise, founded in 2020 and operated on behalf of The Foundation for Persons with Disabilities in Coffee (Charity no. 1214167). Operating award-winning coffee shops as training sites, SEND Coffee creates accessible pathways into speciality coffee and hospitality for young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our two-year mentoring programme, based on an occupational therapy model, includes 1,500 hours of 1:1 life-skills training and a 48-week barista programme. Learners build confidence, independence and hospitality skills before progressing into paid employment. Reinvesting all profits into training, SEND Coffee has been recognised by Ofsted as an Outstanding provider.
