Positive Role Model Award: LGBT
Shea Coffey is a long‑standing LGBT+ community leader, a trans woman and co‑founder of Medway Pride Radio, created during Covid to reduce isolation and connect LGBT+ people. She later founded Rainbows Over Medway with her wife, expanding youth support across and beyond Kent, including a national and international LGBT+ book project. Shea’s work has included delivering talks, support groups and resources following the deaths of young Trans people, and she has helped resettle 10 Trans individuals and two Trans families fleeing danger in the US. She also founded Trans Pride Kent, the UK’s first county‑wide Trans Pride, creating year‑round events, activities and protest spaces.
