Nominee Profile

Location: Bristol
Angie Browne is a former education leader and the founder of Being Luminary, a global consultancy working at the intersection of leadership, equity, and ethics. With over two decades of experience in education, public service, and organisational change, Angie supports leaders to move beyond performative DEI efforts and into courageous, sustainable equity practice.

Through the Being Luminary programmes—serving everyone from early-stage equity enthusiasts to senior executive leaders—Angie offers a layered, rigorous approach to equity that is as strategic as it is soulful. Her comprehensive suite of training materials, thought leadership, and podcast content continues to grow in response to the accelerated and complex demands of contemporary leadership.

Angie is currently developing a sector-wide initiative, in collaboration with peers across the field, to support ethical, human-centred approaches to EDI consultancy. Central to this work is a distinctive audit tool—ambitious in vision and undeniably rigorous—that helps organisations identify the structural and cultural barriers that prevent people with non-majority identities from thriving and belonging.

Her consultancy spans the globe, including bespoke regional training with organisations such as FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) and BSME (British Schools in the Middle East). She holds a Diploma in Transformational Life Coaching (Animus / ICF) and is currently completing her second book, Re-Enchanted: How We Fell Out of Love with Equity Work and How We Fall Back In.

Across a 23-year career, Angie has led in a range of contexts—from Head of English in inner-city schools to Interim Deputy CEO of a multi-academy trust. Her leadership practice is rooted in lived experience and moral clarity, offering a rare blend of strategic expertise and deep human insight.
