BetaJester Ltd

Nominee Profile
Location: York
BetaJester is an award-winning games development and work-for-hire studio. Originally based in York and now working remotely across the UK, their small, highly skilled team consistently creates quality experiences for a wide range of clients, as well as developing their own exciting game IP.
As a majority neurodivergent studio, including two out of three co-founders diagnosed with ADHD, BetaJester is a fully neuro-inclusive company. As a Safe In Our World partner, BetaJester prioritises employee wellbeing by fostering a supportive environment, with remote working and flexible hours available for all team members. BetaJester also takes part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week every year, inviting their team members to share their lived experiences on the company's social media channels (either with their name attached, or anonymously, depending on personal preference) and attend official online NCW events. BetaJester also encourages team members to take advantage of personal training and development opportunities to learn more about key areas, such as mental health and self-development.
Further to the work of the studio, one of BetaJester's co-founders (Adam Clewes-Boyne) is the founder of Playing Attention (the only community dedicated to supporting and advocating for ADHD in the UK video games industry), a co-founder of the IGDA Neurodivergent in Games Development - Special Interest Group, and an accessibility committee member of Limit Break (a mentorship program aimed at underrepresented people working in the UK games industry). He was also placed on the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 2024, coming 3rd place in the Science, Engineering, Technology, Property and Construction category.
BetaJester represents what can be achieved when neurodiversity is fully embraced and accommodated, allowing its team members to work however and wherever best suits them, collaborating to create novel and engaging experiences for all gamers.
