The aim of the Sturdy Foundations Memory Project is to empower individuals with dementia and those concerned about their memory, including those without a formal diagnosis, by providing engaging and meaningful activities in woodworking.
• Empowerment through Creativity: Equip older individuals with the tools, resources, and knowledge to design and craft small wooden creations, fostering a sense of accomplishment.
• Encourage Passion and Confidence: Cultivate imagination and confidence in disadvantaged older people, encouraging self-expression through creative activities.
• Promote Social Connections: Offer a relaxing environment where participants can share life stories, histories, and receive support and advice from both peers and facilitators.
• Foster Continued Contribution to Society: Provide opportunities for individuals to donate or sell their wooden creations, allowing them to contribute to their community and feel valued.
