Positive Role Model Award

Positive Role Model Award for Disability: Sponsor - BT

Nominee Profile

Location: Chobham
Grant Logan is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion and the visionary founder of Ability Today, a not-for-profit social enterprise that empowers disabled people through media, education, and opportunity. After a life-changing motorcycle accident in 2003 left him with a spinal injury and permanently using a wheelchair, Grant transformed personal adversity into a powerful mission for change.
Determined to break down barriers, Grant created Ability Today to provide accessible opportunities for disabled people to build skills and careers. In 2020, he launched the Academy for Disabled Journalists (ADJ) in partnership with the NCTJ, offering accredited training in journalism and SEO. Now in its fifth year, the Academy supports over 100 students and alumni, with graduates going on to work with the BBC, ITV, Newsquest, Metro, and more.
Grant’s personal mentorship and commitment to inclusion go far beyond qualifications - he helps people rediscover confidence, self-worth, and the belief that they can.
From the Roving Reporter Programme to virtual classrooms, Grant’s work reflects his belief that disability should never be a barrier to ambition. His impact has been recognised with numerous accolades, including the NCTJ Excellence Award for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and nominations for the British Diversity Awards, Tech4Good, and National Diversity Awards. He also features on the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 list.
Through innovation, compassion, and lived experience, Grant isn’t just opening doors - he’s changing lives.
