My name is John McDonald, and I am a Disability Consultant / Specialist with over 20 years’ experience working within the healthcare sector. Throughout my career, I’ve championed the belief that turning “disabled” into “enabled” is more than a statement. It is a mindset that drives inclusive and positive change.
In 2016, my personal journey took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with bowel cancer and hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain). While treatments addressed the conditions, complications during the brain surgery left me with deficits including fatigue and balance challenges. However, through effective coping strategies, I continue to lead a fulfilling life both personally and professionally.
My lived experience deepened my commitment to disability inclusion and inspired me to start Eagles Wings Consultancy. I want to help bridge the gap in communication between organisations and individuals with neurological, invisible, or other disabilities. My goal is to help businesses move beyond policies and procedures, and toward genuine understanding and meaningful adaptation.
I believe that real inclusion begins when we listen, learn, and adapt together.
