ADHDAF+ Charity Founder and ADHDAF Podcast Host, Laura Mears-Reynolds has dedicated the last three years of her life to raising crucial ADHD awareness and connecting and empowering ADHD adults, both globally online and now on a local level.
ADHD diagnosis and treatment not only changed, but actually saved Laura's life at 38 years old. When she discovered how many were suffering just as she had, and the terrifying statistics associated with unidentified and unmanaged ADHD, she made it her mission to use her voice to help others like her and to push for a society that works for people with ADHD, where they are accepted, respected and supported.
ADHD As Females Podcast has accumulated 1.7 million downloads from listeners in 204 countries and territories, with psychiatrists recommending it to their patients as far away as New Zealand. Using her own lived experience to eradicate the shame, break the stigma and highlight the danger for those gate-kept ADHD assessment and languishing on long waiting lists.
Beyond validation through relatable stories, Laura has shined a spotlight on womens health, perimenopause and the relationship between hormones and ADHD, with a seal of approval from ADHDAF Podcast guest Dr Nighat Arif and many more.
Through the connection and empowerment she witnessed in her global online community and at local live events, she was inspired to found a Charity,
ADHDAF+ aims to connect and empower ADHD adults of marginalised genders at whatever stage they are at in their ADHD discovery and diagnosis; at this time whilst the diagnosis crisis, medication shortages and media ADHD ableism rage on.
ADHDAF+ currently has five free monthly ADHD Peer Support Groups; Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester and London; with many more about to start all over Scotland, England and Wales.
